The Otto Beckmann Archive (AOB) serves to document the works of Otto Beckmann and to disseminate them for academic and private purposes.

If you have any inquiries about purchases, please write to us at irene@archiv-otto-beckmann.com. We will forward your request to the collectors, who will then get in touch with you. The AOB will mediate between the parties free of charge.

Formation

The idea to found the archive was born at the symposium “Entschwinden die Bilder ins Universum der digitalen Kunst?” (“Are images disappearing into the universe of digital art?”) at the Kunsthalle Bremen on April 8 and 9, 2005.
Dr. Heike Piehler (University of Bielefeld) invited Richard Beckmann to this event.
After discussions with her and Prof. Dr. Horst Oberquelle (University of Hamburg), Prof. Dr. Frieder Nake (University of Bremen) and Dr. Wulf Herzogenrath (Director of the Kunsthalle Bremen), the time had come.
Our founding day: May 2, 2005

Ziele des AOB

Recording and cataloguing works of art with catalogue raisonné numbers (WVZ)
Securing image and sound carriers (digitization)
Archiving and processing correspondence and manuscripts
Providing material for academic work (e.g. documentation)
Collaborating with universities (e.g. dissertation supervision)
Organizing exhibitions
Supporting museums and collections (e.g. communicating works)
Collecting information from contemporary witnesses

Richard Beckmann

Richard ist einer der 4 Söhne von Otto Beckmann.
Er hat im Gedenken an seinen Vater am 2. Mai 2005 das Archiv Otto Beckmann (AOB) gegründet, das er seither leitet.

Irene Beckmann

Irene ist eine Enkelin von Otto Beckmann und Tochter von DI Oskar Beckmann. Seit 2022 unterstützt sie ihren Onkel Richard in seiner Arbeit für das AOB.

DI Oskar Beckmann

Oskar war einer der 4 Söhne von Otto Beckmann.
Erbauer des Kunstcomputers a.i.70 und dessen Ausbaustufen. Er war Mitglied der “ars intermedia“.
Von Dezember 2005 bis 07. Dezember 2022 wissenschaftlicher Berater des „Archiv Otto Beckmann“.
